Richard emigrated from England, where he was born, to St. Thomas, Ontario at the age of five. From that time forward he has been, if not St. Thomas’s biggest fan, then at least its most vocal. From the time he joined LSTAR back in 1989, Richard’s record of service has been impressive. Not only has he been President of the Marketing Division (1996) and, as a consequence of his position, on the Association of Directors, he has sat on the following Association committees, task forces and advisory groups: ICI; Appeal Panel; Professional Standards, Photo Library, Discipline, Technology, Political Action, Education, Bylaw and Finance.

In 2008, Richard chairs the Area Outreach Task Force and sits on both the PAC Issues Advisory Group and the Key Box Task Force.

An enthusiastic advocate for the City of St. Thomas, Port Stanley and Elgin County, Richard logged eighteen years as a Member of the Elgin County Council and served as Reeve of Yarmouth Township. He has volunteered for the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority, the Heart and Stroke Association, the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, the Port Stanley Theatre and the Elgin/St. Thomas Home Builders Association. In addition, he has served as President and on the Board of Directors for both the St. Thomas United Way and the YMCA.

Richard and his wife, Helen, also a REALTOR®, now make their home in Port Stanley, and work in the St. Thomas and Port Stanley area where, as Richard is fond of reminding you, “there is 25% more life!”
